An extension adds extra time to the end of your unit if you’ve faced challenges that have prevented you from studying at the rate you expected when you enrolled. For example you or a close relative might have been ill unexpectedly. We can consider a range of circumstances as grounds for an extension.
Delays must be unforeseen, outside your control and be likely to prevent you from completing your unit within the permitted timeframes. You must also be able to provide evidence to match the reasons given for the delay.
Once you have checked you have grounds to apply (section 10 of the policy) and arranged appropriate supporting evidence (section 12 of the policy) you can submit your application via the helpdesk, or via learnersupport@oca.ac.uk The panel have up to 20 working days to review applications once the clerk has checked and confirmed that your application is complete, so please ensure you apply in good time, and always before the unit end date.
Note: If you need extra time due to a disability you have recorded with OCA. You are entitled to a reasonable adjustment extension of up to 3 months per unit. This can be agreed upon via email to Learner Support.
